How Could my Cat Washing Machine Be Improved?
It’s basically like a breadbox with a sprinkler system in it, with very gentle warm water spray, like in a little tiny car wash. You put the cat in, with gentle whispering, that’s alright then sweet kitty. You lock the top dome, but it’s big enough so the cat doesn’t feel any more confined than it feels in a cat travel box. In fact you could use one of those cat travel boxes, just drill some holes in the top, and some holes in the bottom and put it up on a couple of sawhorses in the backyard, over the grass. Now you hose in the warm water very gently through the holes in the top. Now comes a few big mixing bowls of shampoo water, poured in very gently, the cat might sort of be a little agitated, but that’s part of the carwash process, the cat kind of self-brushing. When your cat is all foamy and lovely with suds, you then very gently pour in the slightly cool pure water rinse, or just use the hose as before. You want to set up a hairdryer to blow very mildly warm air in through the screen. Leave this on until the cat is completely dry. Then turn it off and let the cat calm down for about an hour. Now approach the Cat Washing Machine with a nice bowl of delicious catfood. Put the catfood where the cat can see it, and very gently release the cat from the box. Voila clean cat, and all is forgiven.
If you only wash your cat four times a year, it will simply not remember the Cat Washing Machine. So you won’t have really violent problems putting it in next time. P.T. Barnam never gave a cat an even break, and neither should you. If you have friends in the SPCA, you might resist the temptation to show them your cat washing machine.
I like a clean cat. One that has fluffy fur, not mangy looking. I’m want my machine to work as well as possible, but humanely, no tumble option, no spin cycle. That would be outrageous. But if the box had a good sturdy handle and was not likely to fly off the handle, you could maybe do a spin cycle one time, just for snaps to make some Christmas Cards “me and my clean cat”. Centrifugal force would not accomplish a real thorough drying, you would still have to use the hair dryer for the final dry.
I did ask the cat about this and he said meow …. meow …. Meow ….. Meow ….. MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!!!
But I want more input to get the design really good. What do you think?
